The Fall 2026 campaign focuses on protecting vision and reducing the number of ocular injuries in agricultural settings. We compiled resources from a variety of sources, listed below, to create an easy-to-use handout that covers critical aspects of eye protection. Click here to download your own copy and prepare for a safe season. Along with the handout, ANSI Z87.1 rated safety glasses were sent to Iowa State Extension and Farm Service Agency (FSA) offices in each of Iowa’s 99 counties.
Farming environments expose eyes to unique hazards like flying debris, chemical splashes, and intense UV radiation. Protection requires matching the right gear to the specific hazard.
- Debris/Dust: Projectiles – ANSI Z87.1 rated safety glasses with side shields
- Chemical handling: Splashes – Indirect-ventilation chemical splash goggles
