Learning Objective:
Abstract: Limited information is available on agricultural injuries and illnesses in India. Given that agriculture is a hazardous industry worldwide, understanding the scope of the public health burden is critical in order to reduce or prevent adverse health outcomes in this country. To address the lack of available knowledge of agricultural injuries and illnesses in India and to inform future health and safety interventions, we will estimate occupational physical and psychosocial demands, general health status, musculoskeletal health status, and acute injury occurrence in tea plantation workers in India through comprehensive quantitative and qualitative assessments. Tea workers represent a vulnerable migrant population that may be at particular risk for poor health status. The presentation will focus on methods and preliminary results from this pilot study.
