The Summer 2026 campaign educated Iowans on heat illness prevention. Agricultural workers are exposed to heat during their work, especially in the summer months. While heat-related illnesses are preventable, farmers still become sick from heat exposure and some cases may be severe or even fatal. I-CASH Heat Illness Prevention cards and cooling towels were sent to Iowa State Extension and Farm Service Agency (FSA) offices in each of Iowa’s 99 counties. The types of heat illnesses, their symptoms, how to provide first-aid are discussed on the front page of the resource. The back of the resource provides a urine color chart to assist agricultural workers in monitoring their hydration levels. Water, rest, and shade are crucial to prevention of heat-related illnesses.
