Specific Aims:
- Attain consistency, quality, and coordination across state lines;
- Account for farm regional and production variances;
- Market the program to agribusiness and to producers;
- Establish incentives from insurances and other agribusinesses for those achieving CSF status.
Abstract: The Certified Safe Farm (CSF) is an evidence-based multimodal total worker health program that evolved from a 10 year prospective, controlled study. The research results revealed long term reductions in medical costs, increased use of PPE, decreased occupational respiratory illnesses, and remediation of farm f hazards. The CSF was founded in Iowa, translated to Wisconsin, North Carolina and Nebraska. However, to expand to a national program, beyond these “nodes” of application, our consultants from agribusinesses have advised us that in order to achieve national sustainability, CSF must be consistent in programing and quality across state lines. Therefore, we have initiated a process that has created a multidiscipline coalition of 24 health and safety professionals, farmers, and insurance professionals. This coalition works by consensus to develop a National Sustainable CSF Program.
