Learning Objectives: 1. Describe application of the Convergence Model as a way to develop community-driven solutions to public health problems
2. Describe how the Convergence Model was used in a pilot project to reduce the risk of farm equipment related injuries
Abstract: Points of convergence among research and intervention planning approaches that focus on understanding the perspective of people impacted by an issue can be leveraged to develop realistic solutions that can be independently sustained over the long-term. The objective of this pilot project is to test an innovative participatory decision-making approach by engaging members of the farming community to co-create an intervention to prevent farm injuries. The proposed project promotes the interaction between research and practice by engaging those at risk for farm injuries in identifying and developing prevention strategies will lead to sustainable interventions.
